Can I pull some fuses to use as a temporary anti-theft tactic?
Can I pull some fuses to use as a temporary anti-theft tactic?
Ok so I pick up my new (to me) truck on tuesday. I plan on using it to go on a snowmobile trip in BC and I'd like to make it semi-steal proof. I don't have the time at the moment to get an alarm system installed SO with that in mind, could I pull the fuses to the fuel system or starter to prevent the truck from starting. Or am I asking for potential problems if I forget I pulled said fuses and try firing it up (throw codes like a banshee?). The hotel we stay at has a locked and gated but I'd like to further ensure that should some lowlife doesn't swipe my new truck should he/she target it.
Any other ideas I could try? I plan on getting an alarm/remote starter installed on the truck soon. I worked/am working my tail off to buy this rig, last thing I need is some moron ripping it out of my possession

Check under the hood in the big fuse box. There is some large fuses in there I bet would get the job done. If there are some for the pump that would be my bet as to where they hide em.
Quick fix is to install a toggle switch between the "Switch" wire on your auxiliary solenoid to the starter.
Or even a switch to bypass the fuel solenoid. Make sure you get the correct amp switch though. If it burns out, then you will be the who got proofed.
