Ignition/Anti Theft Kill Switch?
Sometimes my truck will sit a few weeks or so at a time in the garage. I figure with it sitting at long periods at a time the oil is going to drain out of the motor back into the oil pan causing dry starts. I was thinking of installing a kill switch if it's possible so I can turn the motor over without it starting, to let the engine build some oil pressure so I'm not starting the engine dry.
Any suggestions on where to tie the kill switch into???? Or on the other hand, do you think it's worth worrying about????
The other part of in using the kill switch would be mounting it up under the dash so it's not seen. That way if someone gets the bright ideal they want my truck worst then I do, it won't start. "Anti Theft Switch" ;D

I cant believe there are no responses yet. I would have to look at a wiring diagram to find a clean way to splice into the wiring inside the cab. however if all else fails you could splice into the wire going to the shut down solenoid out on the pump itself. I will try and find out what it will take to a clean splice inside the cab.

Thanks for looking. I'm not sure myself on what would be the best way to install a ignition kill switch. I would like to be able to have the switch in the off position and still be able to turn the motor over. Any information is welcomed.

Near the back of the injection pump, you'll see a blue wire going to the solenoid that shuts off the fuel inside the pump. Note: there is another blue wire on the left side of the pump, you want the one that is up higher and more toward the rear of the pump.
If this wire is disconnected, the motor won't run. So, you can splice in a toggle switch to this circuit. On my '91, I measured the amp draw of this solenoid and it shows 1.38 amps. So, any small toggle switch can be used to handle this small current.

Turning the motor over with no fuel while building oil pressure will do very little to prolong its life, as it is still turning over with full compression.

Thanks for the information. I"ll take a look at mine and see if the blue wire is there. If it is then that should be no problem to install a switch. Thanks
