line-x
and your other questions . . . .
There are a lot of pictures if you search, I just saw one on a truck identical to mine and it looked great. I had rolled herculiner on my Tahoe, and loved it. LineX would be the cats . . . meow.

yeah, my local line-x dealer (austin, tx) does awesome work. i had them do my last couple of trucks. i've seen full vehicles sprayed in color and then partial like your talking about. looks sweet. they match colors so well, and the uv kevlar enforced topcoat makes it look great. looks kind of like clear coat. had them do that on my last 2 beds and they didn't fade. i am thinking of having them do my dually fenders. right now i have 3M protection, but if it ever fades or wears out, i'll do line-x. $300 for the rockers is really a super deal. if you've seen their work and like it, i say go for it.

Line X is a completely different than say Rhino... The dealer i use has a coke can sprayed with it, less than 1/8 thick and you cannot crush it with your hands. This stuff is very tough and one of the reasons that it is gouge and peel resistant is because it is thin.
As stated, I have spent 25K this year on Line X on a product that is driven over by vehicles all day long. Some have been for 2 years and it is still there doing what it is supposed to do, protect and create a non-slip surface.
Remember, thicker is not always better.... ask a good paint man

yeah, about 1/8th is pretty standard. i abuse my bed in the landscape business (rock, tree trimmings, pallets, etc.) and line-x is by far the toughest i have found. it is a much harder material than rhino and the like. if you go to their web site, you can see where they use it in commercial and government bulidings for explosion resistance.heck out the line-x link below. they more good info on their site.

Recently I had 1300 lbs of tile on a pallet slide into the bed with a forklift. Didn't even make a mark on the Line-X.

We loaded a a large refrigerator in the back of my last truck and it gouged out a chunk of the Line-X. I took it back to the shop that sprayed it and in less than an hour they had it repaired like new and I couldn't tell where it had been damaged.
A local dealer quoted mt $700 for the rocker panels, which included their new top layer coating that supposely protects it from fading. I love the product, but that's a little rich for my blood.

i got two quotes on line-x the rockers. one was 1200 bucks because of all the masking off they have to do and they said it would take them alot of hours of labor.
the other place... 500 bucks
i don't understand how there can be such and difference, but im guessing the one shop just doesn't like to do it.
anyone know how well they prep? i want my rockers done because of some paint thats chipped off and it's starting to rust slightly on the surface. i don't want them to just spray over rust and have issues later.

I apply vortex spay on liner. I get $225 per side that includes any color that I have on hand and the uv topcoat (makes the product shine and clean up very easy). I have done probably a dozen trucks and have had great success. NO RETURNS. I spray the top line or edge about a 1/8" and then build to about a 1/4" toward the bottom where the rocks really beat on the rockers.
