A/C troubles

I know this is a strange time of year to post this but my a/c quit about a month ago and a local mechanic who helped me diagionas it said the HVAC panel was the problem. I just got around to putting it in and that was not the problem. It has a full charge and a new panel in it thier are no fuses blown. any idea where else I should check. Thanks ahead of time

Do you get 12V to the compressor power cable? If not, more than likely the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM) aka chryslers' better idea, has died or needs to be reset. Talk to a local dealer or independant wrench to see if they handle reseting it. Replacement, from what I've heard, runs $300-$800, depending on who you talk to and where you take it.

Or the clutch is bad and won't come on with the voltage supplied. Check the voltage at the compressor clutch. The cheap fix is to install a single pole single through relay. Let the ECU supply voltage throw the relay and turn power on from a seperate 12 volt supply.

I had a problem like that, the plug from the wiring harness that the compressor plugs into was bad. If I wiggled the plug the compressor would come on.

Put the truck on a GOOD scanner before you do anything else. There is so much more to A/C systems anymore. The compressor on your truck is controlled by the PCM based off of pressure readings and temp readings at the evaporator core. If the PCM detects a problem with anything in the system it will not engage the compressor.

By good scanner I mean if it cost anything less than a few thousand dollars it probably isn't a good one.
