Lift pump troubles
The new engine is in the '98.5 2500.
We got fuel up to the lift pump but.....
We followed the bleeding procedure in the manual but I don't here the pump run and no fuel comes out at the Banjo bolt.
Is there a way to run a jumnper to the pump to test it? ???
I just don't want to burn it up.
The manual says to turn the switch to crank and release to on.
The pump is supposed to cycle for 25-30 sec.
Is there another sensor (Water in fuel?) that will shut off power to the lift pump?
I really want to hear this bugger run.

HELP

Re:Lift pump troubles
Sounsd like you need a new pump. Before to long, I'm going to need one. Went from 13.0-13.8 to 11.6-12.0 psi in about 1000 miles. I hate these pumps. I'm going to kill this one off, then either move it back by the tank or put in a pusher. Whichever one has had the best results in keeping these mothers alive.

Re:Lift pump troubles
If you let one of these sit long enough the fuel gels up and won't let the pump turn. Cleaned up pump and it works fine.
Now, to finish bleading the high pressure side and get this thing started.

Re:Lift pump troubles
Just installed guages in May 2002. EGT/Boost Combo, Fuel Press., Trans. Temp. on a-pillar.
Fuel pressure was running 12 at Idle and 2-3 at WOT since installed gauges.
Have been complaining to dealer----- and finally about two weeks ago, the pressure went to 5 at Idle and 0 when you started to accelerate. The next day they got the truck in and changed the lift pump, then called and said it wasn't putting out enough pressure. The next day they had another lift pump and installed it. The pressure was much better!!
-----
Now am reading 15 psi at Idle and minimum of 8-10 psi at WOT. Never noticed any decrease in performance and truck always ran fine. Think I got it before it damaged the injection pump!
----
All was taken care of under the 100 K warranty. Think they know they've got problems with these lift pumps! If I had'nt had the gauges, won't have known I had any problems.
Recommend gauges to keep an eye on what is going on with the engine, tranny and fuel system!!!
49 K on truck now!
For what it's worth!!
Good luck!
