Broke down with less than 300 miles!

Hi, everyone.
This is my first post here. I've been lurking for a couple of weeks.

Anyway, I was headed out to get the bed line-xed this morning. As I was slowing to a stop at a traffic light, there was suddenly a horrible knocking/banging noise from my engine and a bunch of smoke. I shut it off and just turned it on long enough to limp out of the intersection once the light turned green.
The dealership says that I had the number one fuel injector stick in the fully open position.

I can't believe my crappy luck. Anyone else ever heard of this?

I just bought the truck last week. Traded my Corvette Z06 for it. It feels great to be back in a pickup (my last was a F350), but . . . .
So, greetings!!

Hey, RAW,
Welcome to the site. Sorry about the injector problem. There have been a couple trucks with injector problems, but nothing like the other guys are having. This is a new injector and bound to have some growing pains. I saw one last week getting a new head from two injectors going south. It happens, but not often thank goodness. Just hang in there, it will get fixed.

Welcome Aboard RAW! Nice looking set of wheels you got there. Sorry to hear your CTD isn't happy.

There's another fella here thats got the same issue. Check out the recent posts. Not much I can say or do, other than hang in there, it'll all work out. I think the CTD is the best in the bunch.

Keep us posted on how it goes.

Well, I got the truck back today. Problem was fixed and they gave her a clean bill of health (but I'll save the paperwork just to be safe).

Everything seemed normal on the drive home. So . . . . I'll cross my fingers.

I did manage to reschedule my Line-Xing appointment. That will be done first thing Friday morning.

Yes, I had the front windows tinted. I can't recall the exact percentage of tint. I've had this guy tint all of the vehicles I've owned in the last few years. He knows what I like and just does it. I do remember him saying that technically this tint is darker than factory tint, but that the variations between factory tint and film tint would make the difference indistinguishable. And the fact that so much light still comes in from the windshield.

And I just love silver vehicles. My other truck is silver too. And the Z06 I traded for the Ram was silver. and the car I traded for the Z06 was silver!!

RAW - your truck is very nice looking. I think grey is they only color that looks good with the long bed SRW. did you tint your front windows? if so what % or was it to match the rest. Good luck on the service they performed on your truck.

Not to go off topic, but when I tinted my windows I used 20% Solar Shield tint on the front windows. It matches pretty well. Here is a picture of my rig from the gallery https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...6&pid=2925

Glad you got her all fixed up. How come you did not stay with your baby to make sure she was safe and had the best surgeon on the job?
