Unhappy Less than 3k miles, change oil already.

Anybody else get this on 6.7? I just got back from pulling my 30' trailer(11k lbs.) worked her pretty hard. This just seems premature to me.

Its always a good idea to get the factory brand new oil out of the truck in the first couple thousand miles. There can be excessive contaminents in it.

Mine just tripped the "oil change required" at 2100 miles. I reset it and plan to change at 5000 for first one.

Do the new 6.7 have maintenance lights?

If so, and they work like other manufacture service lights, then this is probably what's happening. The maintenance systems work like this. They are pre-programmed to trigger on based on, time, mileage and operating conditions. So anyone or all of these variables could be triggering it on. Change the oil! Simple, inexpensive maintenance.

Change your oil.

The monitor does NOT use odometer in the calculation, rather a combination of engine duty cycle and "dosing" fuel (post-injection regeneration). If you vehicle is operated in a duty cycle that causes more frequent regeneration (more dosing fuel of the aftertreatment) then the oil will be more likely to become diluted and need to be changed. The days of using these trucks as "daily drivers" look to be over. Also using fuel additives will increase particulates which will aid in building up more soot which will in turn require more regenerations which will equate to your "oil change alert" coming on more often.

Don't start engine, just turn key to ON, press throttle pedal 3 times within so many seconds, turn key off. It's in the MANUAL.

mine told me to change my oil at 2800 miles.. I change every 3000 miles anyways, so it wasnt too big of a deal to me.. Most those 2800 miles were towing 9000 lbs in the Rocky Mountains.
