Brake/ABS lites on when pulling heavy load
Brake/ABS lites on when pulling heavy load
I ended up having to pull a 30000 pd roll-off truck up a fairly steep hill today. We just got some snow and ice and he couldn't make it up the hill. My truck seemed to pull it just fine (he was under power, too) but when I got almost all of the way up the hill, the brake and ABS lites came on. Checked parking brake- not engaged. It kept pulling with no apparent signs of trouble. After I was done I turned the truck off. The lites went off after starting and running the truck for about 5 minutes. Anyone have any Ideas why the lites came on?

mine came on on my 03. i wasn't towing a load when it came on, just driving down the road unloaded.
anyway... turned out to be some sort of speed sensor that the dealer replaced in about 30 mins.
if your's doesn't come on again i wouldn't worry about it too much. but if it does it shouldn't be any big deal. the only thing that the service manager said is you're ABS won't work while the light is on.

wheel spin will make the lights come on... try playing in the snow [drifting, donuts...] and the light will come on after a good bit of wheel spin. just tap the service brakes and it will clear the light....
