Diesel Fuel Gelling
It's going to be somewhere between 0 to 10 degrees for lows here and I'm wondering about fuel gelling. The tank probably has plain number two in it and not the winter blend stuff, but I don't know for sure. By the time I start the truck, it will be somewhere between 25 to 35 degrees.
What temperature does it take to gell the plain number two fuel? Do I need to worry about this? Thanks for the help.

I think it is around +10 to 15F for summer blend. If you filled up your tank within the past 2 months, you should have winter blend and it should be OK for those temps. You could go to your local auto/truck parts store and get some diesel fuel conditioner that has anti-gel.
if you buy fuel in the area where it is cold it ought to be winterized. I know my rabbit diesel manual says to add a bit of gasoline if winter diesel isn't available. Not sure I'd do that on these new engines however!!!
I always say anything below 25 deg I want blend in or an adative. At 10 deg there is a good chance it will gell up. I always run a dose of Power Service in it to make shure even with 50/50 blend. 50/50 is suposed to be good to around -20 or so. If you use Power Service make shure it is the white bottle not the gray one. Gray is a cleaner and wont help with gelling. PS is available everywhere. Your local gas station should have it on the shelf and if not wally world will for shure.
