Rear Brake lites out

Rear brake lites out on 2001 quad cab? Swapped fuse under hood with emergency flasher fuse but lites still out, but brake lite on back of cab comes on? I left flasher fuse empty cause I did not have spare. Checked bulbs and they look good. Am I over looking something?

There is also a fuse panel on the left side of your dash. Open drivers door and there is a small pop out cover, open it and there sould be a fuse in there for flashers as well. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the responce but, that was my first stop, all the fuses were ok. I am wondering if the flasher fuse has to be installed to complete the circuit? Or if the stop light switch could be giving me problems? The thing that has me puzzled is the cab brake lite works when the brake peddle is depressed.

Do you have a cap on your truck with a brake light in it? Sometimes the boys use parrallel connectors under the truck and in our climate with all the road salt it rots the wire.

I wouls think the cab brake light and the brake lights on the box arew fed from the same place but there will be a "T" off somewhere but where I cant help you.

Jason

OK Problem solved, Both fuses, emergency flasher and stop light MUST be inplace before the brake lights will work. Since I did not have a spare the system would not work, even if I swapped them . I picked up a spare 20 amp fuse ($3.00) at car quest and installed and they now work. Glad that is over, Oh yea I added a extra 20 & 30 amp fuse to carry with me.
