wire tap for driving lites ?????
Hi just installed piaa 510s on my 02 sport and used the piaa harness, but cant get lights to turn off with trucks light switch, I have to use the piaa switch to turn off the 510s when I shut truck off.Is there any way to use the piaa harness to turn on 510s with just your brights and not have to use the piaa swich. This grounded light system is driving me crazy. Thanks
I haven't looked closely at the wiring diagram, but I would assume that it should be easy to do with a relay. I also assume that your PIAA lights came with a relay in the kit.
A basic relay has 4 pins: 1 on each end of the relay winding, and 1 for each of the 2 contacts. 1 contact is wired to the power source (battery) and one contact is wired to the driving lights. They are usually numbered 30 and 87, respectively.
The 2 pins on the relay winding are the control side. To energize the winding, 1 pin needs power (from the PIAA switch) and 1 needs ground (from the ground to the high beams from the dimmer switch. Those pins are usually numbered 85 and 86.
Hope this helps.

Yes , the piaas came wita a relay but its different than a normal relay hard to explain I,m sure I'll figure it out the thing is I dont want to use the piaa switch.I should just leave it till tomorrow, just spent 5 hrs making brackets so the 510s could mount in my sport bumper ,can't even think stight now.Hows the weather down there in Calg. ,I'm up in Ft Mac workn and its Edit cold. Thanks .
Weather's really up and down here. Was 10 deg. last week, yesterday was -20. Finally got some snow late Christmas day. I bet it's pretty ugly up there. Stay warm and good luck with the lights.
