beeping sound

2006 2500 ram diesel. Hear high pitched sound on drivers side shortly after start up and moving. Beeps only once. First heard it about 5 days ago and again today. What could it be? No warning lights come on.

Do you have blue tooth wireless for your cell phone? Could be connecting with your phone?

I don't have blue tooth and I gave up on trying to figure out what it is. I know for a fact that I have what you are hearing though. Been that way for 80,000+ miles.

I know what it is... my wife's truck does it, (she has an 03 hemi 1500) it's the door locks locking when you hit 15 mph, or what ever the speed is. Sounds like a weak little beep...

BTW, welcome to the DTR. Fill out your sig so we know what you have. Go to user CP at the top left side of the page, then edit signature.

Angry Noises arrgggh!

I agree with madhat. It is the noise of the auto locks. Normally it is a definate "clunk". They make a "beep" or "squeak" when they are going bad. I have lost at least one on each of my previous trucks and now have one going bad. Mine is the driver side rear door, and yes it is annoying. These have been an ongoing problem with lots of other Chrysler products. Minivans Jeeps and passenger cars. Sometimes it's a short noise. As it gets worse it will be a longer noise.

My old lady's has been doing it for a year now... seems to work ok. Maybe I'll pull the door pannels off and lube everything up... take some of the strain off.

IIRC there was a tsb for the rear door locks. Mine makes that same noise when I lock it . Engine has to be off to hear mine though, pretty light. First time I though it was my cell phone! I'll see if I can round up that tsb.

Thumbs down No luck here

Couldn't find a TSB for any years 02-06, but on the parts side there is a reference to contact engineering directly. Something to do with the child latch being engaged. That's all I found vzdude. Doubt that's it though.

I kinda remember. It was either a recall or rapid response transmittal. We had to replace the white guide clip on the inside of the door panel for the lock rod. It would bind and make noise if I remember right!?!? For only 33 yrs old, I seem to be having more and more "senior moments!" Hope that isn't a sign of things to come!

With that being said.....I would take the door panel off and activate the lock/ and unlock and see if the noise can be pinpointed. A little grease may fix it. Also..most of the door lock actuators that I have replaced made a squealing noise even though they still worked. There are a set of gears inside that when they slip make that noise.

That's just the Monty Python option package.

Mine bings for various reasons: low fuel, e-brake engaged, seat belt, door open.

I'll probably pull the door panel off and look at it this weekend. Gears slipping sounds about right. If this is what I have to look forward to at 33 (now 32)well I'll have to go get some anti CRS meds soon.

Tell me about it! ^ Too much stuff floating around in my head for it to all make sense! I really try to block out the voices, but sometimes they have some really good ideas! LOL

Thanks everyone. It seems to be doing it when the door locks engage. Just concerned cause it had not done it before.

Mine does the same thing - I thought it was because I have the child lock set on the drivers side back door.
