Been thinking that maybe I want a dually...

I ordered a new 03 with exactly everything I wanted, in SRW 3500, intending to drive it forever.
Then I started eyeballing bigger 5th wheels...
I ended up with a used 06 dually, equipped just about exactly as I would have (Laramie H, nav, jake), but I still wish I would have ordered the 03 as a dually.

But the thing is, that I dont need it.
The heaviest thing that I will tow is a 21' Mastercraft boat.
Does anyone on here have a dually that doesnt really need one? Or would you guys advise against getting one unless I need it?
Do you guys have any tips for driving a dually? I have only driven one once, and it was on some narrow road, but it didnt seem like a big deal.

havent owned anything but a dually for the last 18 yrs your only buying 2 more tires not 6 parking is not a problem 99% of the time towing is better then anything else as far as mileage maybe 2 miles less i get 15 in town on my 06 and 18 on hwy. parts cost the same cuz it uses the same parts as everything else other then the front hubs. if you want it can afford it then buy it and be happy

Nothing looks better than a fat-bottomed-girl cruising down the highway. Before I bought my dually the biggest vehicle I'd owned was a Toyota Tacoma. I love it, love the way it looks and love the way it drives.
Fast food driveways and such have never been a problem for me - once you get used to knowing where your fenders are you'll be fine. Purchasing tires ends up being more expensive for a full set but I seem to get a lot more miles out of my tires than guys running 4 wheels.
The biggest thing I pull is a 25' travel trailer and occasionally my dad's 28' boat. I'll never go back to 4 wheels.

I'm on my fourth dually. I keep buying 'em because I need them, but gawd they sure are a pain in the @$$. Parking is a b!tch, buying tires sucks (and I need SEVEN new tires this fall -- spare was bald when I bought the truck), and yeah you're always worried about scraping the fenders.
I've always had a big truck camper, and wanted to tow big too, so I've needed duals. I bought my current truck with plans to buy the biggest, baddest Lance camper they make... but then got a killer deal on a 5th wheel toyhauler. Technically I could do without the dually with this trailer, but since I want to add an Aerotanks fuel tank and a flatbed, I'd end up needing the duals after all. So it's just as well.
Plus, I hope to get a Lance again anyway... but I'm trying to design a flatbed that will be compatible with both a camper and the 5th wheel.
Bottom line is this... if you NEED it or plan to do something in the future that will require one, then get the dually. If not, save yourself a ton of trouble and go SRW. You can always put 19.5's on it later to make up for tire load differences (up to 9000# anyway).
