If anyone was following this thread and wondered what the outcome was, last thing I tried was the wiper motor and it didn't change anything, I now have a small LED toggle switch where the seat heater switch goes. Didn't correct the problem but it did stop the battery drain.
Thanks guys

I am having the exact same problem with my 07 mega diesel, battery drain on iod fuse and the only way to kill the drain is to un-plug the cluster. The draw does the same thing, it varies up to 90 and down to 69 like it is trying to go to sleep but can't. I have the overhead console unplugged, as well as the radio, amp, satellite receiver. I don't have dvd or hands free. Someone help!!!

We worked thru alot of wiring as posted. The problem is there is alot of switches and loads and controlers that are not fused. Your options are to disconnect each one at a time and check for the draw or plug in a star scan tool to help locate the problem. It may be the inst cluster. If you find that it is, I read that there is some one out there that repairs it.

Pretty sure it is the cluster, spent some more time with it and while watching the draw the cluster started clicking all of the sudden and the tach needle vibrated. The draw went way up and after a few minutes it went back to sleep. Very strange, $349 for a reman cluster from Mopar. I will let you know what happens after I get the new cluster.

twenske, did the dealer have to take down your trucks vin and odometer reading when they ordered the reman cluster from the factory? The service manual talks about the cluster being told, thru the star scan tool, about the truck. I only ask so we will all know how much the dealer needs to be involved in this repair/replacement, and how much can be done at home. Also, what was the cluster doing, that you can tell us, to help others identify this problem in their truck.

To the top... I lost all my interior and dash lights on my 07 3500 w/ the 6.7 diesel engine. Had it in the shop, they told me the instrument cluster was bad. They wanted to sell me a new one for $700... No way I said, as I've seen them used for less than $200. Reading this thread, it appears I can't just swap a used cluster in it's place. Anyone with any experience in replacing gauge clusters???

With the help of this forum I have diagnosed the battery draining issue I've been having with my 05 2500 Ram diesel to be the #51 fuse which controls the instrument cluster, radio and underhood lamp.

I've been having some issues with the instrument cluster so I suspect that's the problem but I thought I'd check the other things too. The problem is I can't find the underhood light! Is it possible I don't have one? If I do where would it be?

Thanks!
