Back up camera

hey guys I have been reading the post on this site for a while now and wanted to say hi to all!!!!
I found a post that someone put the REC Navigation radio in and used the instruction to install one in my truck. By the way my tuck is a 2007 3500 QC short bed.
The post was great and made it easy to install the new nav system.
My question is on back of the REC there is a three pin connector to install a backup camera. After reading the manual they should be a place to activate the camera but mine does not have this place.
Has anyone installed the backup camera using the nav screen or can this not be done.

Thanks

I know for the 2006 there was no "plug and play" capability. For the 06 Rams we had to send the enitre unit in to a private company to modify the REC for a back-up camera signal, and it wasn't cheap. I thought for the 07s they were going to make that rear-view capability, but no one has chimed in yet?

I did an internet search on this very subject a few days ago. I found some forum on the internet where a seemingly knowledgeable person said that the only way to get a camera from the factory for the REC unit was in a Jeep. You may want to start there. There is a company called something like TV&NAV2GO.com that you can send your REC to and they will set it up so you can watch movies thru it and also hook up video games or a camera. They charge $450 for this and you still have to buy an external DVD player if you want to watch movies. I have contemplated this but haven't done it yet....

I bought the cheap one from Costco and put it on my sun visor, I flip the sunvisor down when I want to hook up the trailer. It works great and it cost $89.95 Canadian.

I did the same. I have the camera so it points directly at the tow ball. It's not the best unit in the world but it works and it sure is nice backing up one time and having it perfect. I didn't have a 3rd guage in my pillar pod so I mounted my monitor there...

Yep, if you are looking for a cheap "wireless" wirleless back-up camera the VR3 is being sold at Wally mart for $100 or so. I really wanted to integrate a back-up camera into the Nav, but have now started to go a different route.

This might be too far off the subject if so sorry. I bought a rear view camera from http://www.rvcams. The guy was very helpfull and even talked me into one for less money. Has been on my truck for 2 years now. Mounted the camera on the plate where the safety chains go (still have room for the chains). The monitor is a 5.5 screen and color use it as a 2nd monitor for movies. it cost just over $300 but works great even in the dark. I just have the monitor in a case in the center console, I plug it in the cigar lighter when I need it.

I just installed one last night (happy birthday to me) and while not impressed, I'm very satisfied with it. If it saves one kid/dog/motorcycle/etc then it is well worth having.
