Anyone remove the securiy module?

I have a 07 and this is the second time I've had the security module go out on this truck. This time it cost 320 to have it fixed!

Is it possible to remove this module? I'm thinking not but, was wondering if anyone had tried it.

It's the sentry module for the key. I know it sounds a little crazy, but this truck has been nothing but problems and I'm looking for way to reduce the problems.

Read TSB may help, this module very rarely goes bad you may have other problems causing it to fail.

Intermittent no start with no response from the ECM (PCM). Also, there may be no response from the Wireless Control Module.;The ECM (or PCM - both refer to the same module) is not active on CAN BUS communication, displayed in RED or with a RED 'X'. The WCM is not active on CAN BUS communication and may be displayed "blank". Any of fault codes P2509, P128D, C2202, C2205, U0100 may be set.
System or Component Inoperative,No Start;No Response;ECM,Wireless Control Module (WCM);Yes - Intermittent
Recommendation Remove, clean and re-install ALL ground connections at the batteries, on the engine block and body.

as stated above. I have replaced many WCM modules because of just what you are experiencing. it is not possible to remove the sentry due to the programming in the ECM.

Thanks guys. It seems like I can't really do the repair myself based on the attached instructions.

Is the IOD fuse an easy to check. I'm sure I could do that much.

You may have a bad FOB key do you have another key? Disconnect the battery ground cables for around 10 minutes. Then reconnect try starting with another FOB key..

I'll keep that sequence in mind the next time this happens.

One other question. Is there only one module controlling the security aspect of the key? When we picked up the truck yesterday it mentioned that this was the second time this module failed. We were then told the it was a different module that failed the first time.

Well mine ended up being the clutch switch. The plastic piece in the back came out and it would not let it engage. They repaired the switch and it's fine...........for now

These dang security systems and keys have had me come SO close to going back to the dark side a few times.
I wish someone would find a way to program these out of the system!
