Remove transmission fluid from Tranny-Can I just remove cooler line?
OK..I just bought a mint condition, 57,000 mile, gas 360 engine,1997 Ram 1500 club cab 4x4, from Denver Co. The guy had a dealer do a $2,000.00 service done on it.( tanny filter/flush, Both diff. fluid changes, plugs, & Etc, I got his receipts)..I always switch to amsoil everything, & want to put amsoil transmision fluid in there..a friend of mine who has a quick lube oil/trans change shop, does not have the dodge adapters, & a local dealer wants full $129.00 price even if I bring my amsoil...so the question is; can I very carefully just remove one of the trans cooler lines, put the line/hose in a container, & start the engine for very short time, while the trans pumps out the fluid, & just refill with my new amsoil?????? yes, I know you can't run it very long w/o oil...any suggestions?? thanks

The flow will stop as soon as the trans pan runs dry. The flush machine replenishes the fluid that is removed so that doesn't happen. 3 gallons of trans fluid are used with trans flush machine. That's why dealer charges $129 for flush.

Yes you can do it that way after the oil stops flowing just shut it off pour 6 qts in the trans and start it again that will pump what you have added in the pan into the torque conv. then just fill the trans to the full mark and you are done.
