6.7L EB vs. Jacobs or PacBrake EB

I need some input from some of you that have used both the Jacobs and/or PacBrake Ebrakes. I am speaking specifically of the autos. How do they compare to the integrated tubo brake in the new 6.7's? I am trying to decide whether to turn my '06 in when the lease is up and get an '08 or buy the '06. Any help would be great.

At this point in time the only option you have is the VGT/turbo brake and from what I hear is good but not as good as the real thing.

my neighbor lady [commercial hauler]has the new 6.7 with the new brake variable vane turbo with a sliding nozzel] and says it has much more braking with her 26000+ lb trailers than her '03 5.9 with the Jacobs or her previous '00 with a Pacbrake. Cummins says its 240 hp for the 6.7 system vs 180 hp for the 5.9 and a EB.

I test drove one with the 4.10's and auto, and it seemed to me that the factory exhaust brake provided more braking than the jake exhaust brake on my stick shift 03...

I believe they also claim that the 6.7's exhaust brake provides more retarding than the jake on the 5.9?

Yep, 240hp. I really love the Ex brake, but it would be even better with the manual trans. With the 68RFE in tow / haul, it drops out when the torque converter unlocks (read 1st and 2nd gear). It works well down to 15 mph or thereabouts. Only pulled my 10K# trailer one time so far (at that horrible 50mph break-in speed), and the ex brake would slow the rig down coming off the freeway without even putting my foot on the brake pedal.... almost too much before reaching the end of the offramp. A very slight application to the throttle will back the brake off (balancing between throttle and E brake), to coast the rest of the way to the bottom of the ramp...

It looks like I will probably get a new truck when my lease is up. I am tired of doing brakes and the E-Brake should help a bit. I might even buy one this time. Thanks to everyone for there input.

When I took a new 6spd auto out for a test drive I almost handed over $20,000 ( keep in mind CDN funds) plus an almost brand new truck just so that I could have the 6.7 EB. It is hands down better than the Jacobs EB on my '06 manual.
