2005 Under Hood Light?

I have had my 2005 2500 since september. I realized the other day when I opened the hood after dark that I had no under hood light. Do these not come standard on these trucks now? I'm sure with the cummins I'll prob never need it. Just seems like they find something else every year to leave off that people will have to buy later. Does anybody else have a truck without one?

I guess it's part of some package. I do not have one either.

I'd have to say that is one of my only complaints about the truck. It doesn't have the under hood light and doesn't have rear wheel well liners like the gen 2 trucks had.

My 03 doesn't have a hood light, an ashtray light, and... they left out the little "stash light" in the right-hand footwell. I've had Chrysler products for YEARS, and this is the first vehicle I've seen that doesn't have the right-hand light. I thought you couldn't get a Chrysler product without it.

I ordered a set of the molded mudflaps, but now I don't think I want to install them untill I get a set of the wheel liners for the rear. Now, come'on DC... that's just CHEAP of you.

Mine is a Laramie and has one, but it hasn't ever worked. I guess I need to pop the cover and see what bulb it takes because they sure are nice to have, for whenever...uhhh, wait, nevermind. I never have to do anything under the hood because it's got a Cummins.

My SLT did not have one either or the Ash Tray/Cup Holder light. I ordered and installed the Ash Tray/Cup Holder light. When I think about it I will order the under hood light and wiring harness. I was suprised that I did not have one also.

That's about stupid that a truck wouldn't come with something like that unless it's ordered with a package. Does anybody know if the connectors are there to add these lights if I buy them now? I know there's a place to plug the under hood lamp. How bout the glovebox lampp or any of the others?

I think all of the wiring to plug into is there on my SLT. Might not be there on a ST package. I saw the under hood light connections. I added the Ash Tray/Cup Holder lamp. It was just plug in wiring and snap lights in place.

2005 rear wheel well liners

My 2005 Dodge is a loaded Laramie and it never came with rear wheel well liners. The under hood light works brightly every time I open the hood. I had to purchase the liners and install them before I installed the HD molded mud flaps. I was not very impressed with Dodge having no liners, and now I probably will fabricate some light metal hangers to help support the heavy mud flaps. The front and rear mud flaps are screwed into the wheel well liners and are functioning satisfactorily.

When I ordered my early 03, under hood light was not an option at all.

Later, it was an option, and I ordered the parts and did the install. The later trucks on the lot that did not have a hood light had the connector for it on the harness by the passenger side hood hinge.

Early 03's like mine apparently do not have that connector, so I had to clip off that end of the wiring kit and solder and heat shrink on an inline fuse and ring connector... Add a little split loom and it looks pretty factory.

I also did the hood liner while I was at it (again, not even optional on an early 03), and I also did the rear wheel liners.

I was also surprised at the cost cutting stuff, or details they apparently hadn't worked out and left off a high $$$ loaded truck...
