I miss the under hood light I had in my old truck! I have an '04 and was curious if anybody knew if an underhood light is available for the '04 and if so, can it be ordered and added?

I need some light under the hood while hooking up the jumper cables to help out the PSD folks!

I have one. The bulb burns out right away. Not working now. Had two bulbs so far.

 

Yes the 04's can have it installed. Just look on the wire harness at the firewall, either passenger or drivers corner and there should be a plug sitting there waitng on you to purchase one and install it

 

Part numbers are 56021441 lamp, $15.75 net and 56051176-A wiring $23.85.

I added it to my 03, but had to clip the other end off the wiring and attach an inline fuse, as my main harness doesn't have the mating end...

 

You guys telling me that Dodge didn'y put a friggin hood light on these $new$ rigs?!! Thats lame.

To get it from the factory, you have to order the "light group" option. If I recall correctly, my '03 Chevy didn't even have an optional under hood light.

 

Wasn't an option on 03, at least that I saw.

 

My 03 has it, it's part of the light group. This was available in mid 03.

 

Yep that's right, the Light Group, Underhood Lamp & Ash Tray/Cup holder lamp were NOT an option in the beginning of 03. It became and Option, then in 04 it was part of the Larime group. They also included the sound matting under the hood then DC was just cost cutting( being REAL CHEAP) if you ask me

 

I knew I ordered that "Light Group" option for a reason.

That must explain it, mine is an early 03... I also added the hood silencer at the same time. I was blown away that neither came with the Laramie package, nor were they even listed as an option.

 

I'm ordering my next truck -- no more buying off the lot for this 'ole boy...

 

I don't get it. Mine is one of the last 03 and I don't have it. Build date of May I believe.

Yep..... to get the under hood light you gotta check the "light group" option. Otherwise you don't get it. When you get the light group you also get vanity mirror lights and maybe entry lights. Not for sure on the entry lights.

When I spec out my truck for order it was a must have option. Of course then I had to wait 3 months to get the truck. And then another 3 months for a second truck to replace the first. But in the end it has been worth it!
