06 center console won't shut easily

don't have the Geno's smoothie....
but Genos says the 06 latch is not adjustable

you either have to SLAM it hard enough to scare the other people in the truck,

or hold the handle open to get it to shut.

if you don't shut it, it moves all around, and will tear itself apart

anyone fixed? dissassembled?

Add washers under the latch accembly in the top. It's a PITA but works. This will add length (reach) so the lid need not be closed as far to catch.

John, how did you get it apart?

looks like i will have to take apart the upholstery.

gonna try MadHat's grease idea, but doubt that will work - it's pretty short of shutting. Geno's the years are different

Just for reference, I had to slam the crap out of mine to get it to shut. It felt the same as when you try to shut a car door with the catch already up.

Are they the same style as the 04's? I have the dealer manual...

Hmmmm.......
I've not noticed any difficulty with getting mine to latch and it latches with just a little pressure as you close it.
Are you talking about the fixed center console (doesn't have a middle seat) or the one built into the middle seat backrest?

I had the same problem on my 06 and 04.5. It needs a little lube. I used a wax based lube that when dry doesn't leave a mess or grease to get on the upholstery.

Whenver it gets hard to close, I just rewax it.

The black plastic ring around the lid portion just pops out. Just a couple nuts hold the latch on. Add washers to the back of the latch and put it back together. Be sure to check the little free swinging part that locks the lid when you raise it. It will bind up in the locked position and you wont be able to open the lid. I had to bang the hell out of mine to open it after I mistakenly dropped the keys inside while I was installing it away from home.
