front brakes lock to easily

the front rotors, pads and calipers are new within 5k. on all the ice/sluch lately, the fronts will lock easier than i remeber. causing alot of sliding.

i know my ride has abs only on the rear, and i doubt that even works, starting to doubt my rear brakes even work. but still , shouldnt the grabbing on the front be more gradual ?

Might wanna check the rear brakes. If they're not carrying their weight, the front will lock up easier due to the weight transfer. Some larger rear wheel cylinders will increase braking force, and should help the rears lock before the fronts (and activating the ABS before the fronts lock as well).

HTH,

Shawn

Pull the inspection covers, check the shoe-drum clearances - should be nearly touching for proper braking hookup - if not, adj the star-wheel (not the one in the Inj Pump, either!)

After reading the manual I found that I was doing the automatic rear brake adjust wrong. It says to come to a complete stop each time going FWD and then rev. Works better for me now,
