Will update on what is found for a leak. I cannot really recall the A/C ever working really well since new so maybe it was never properly filled up. Time will tell. Truck only has 12K so far.

Did you pull a vaccum on it and let it sit for 30 minutes? If you didn't you may have wasted your time filling it up again. We did that to mine and that showed a good size leak. They evacuated the system today and it only had .46 lbs in it and they just filled it last Tuesday to 1.88 lbs. The leak got bigger. Should be ready tommorrow unless they find any new issues.

No they did not let it sit for any lenght of time as I was in a bit of a time crunch. A/C is still cold as of today but it will go back for the check of the dye. I would not be surprised if it was leaking. As of tonight it was cycling on and off so it still has decent charge as of now. I will update as I find out more. I am just glad that it blows a consitant temp accross both sides now so that rules out the blend door for now.

Well, I got my truck back today. They did a good job with the dash R&R. I have no leaks and 1.88 lbs of R134a and the A/C still blows a good bit hotter on the Passenger side than the drivers side. Almost ambient air. When the fan is working it is much better.

Beemo, what is D.C. going to do about this issue. The system is doing what it is engineered to do and that is not to good.

You could add a relay to control the cooling fan via the compressor clutch. Would probably have to add a diode to protect the PCM when the fan is being driven via the relay.
Personally the easier route is to add the electric fan because of the hp involved and the noise level from the cooling fan.

I'll probably do this in a couple of weeks and will report back.

Have you got your fan yet? This is what I am going to do. It is alot cheaper to spend $125 on the fan and relay then buy a new truck that will probably do the same thing down the road. Did the guy on the other forum have any pics of his mounting?

Not yet. Ended up spending my mad money on a new set of tires for the Magnum.
No pics of his setup. I can ask but it seems pretty simple to install. I would use the Perma-Cool HD offroad mounting kit for the fan installation instead of the cheesy tiewraps through the condenser.

NOT doing the tiestrap thing either. May make my own brackets. I am going to order in the next day or so. Got the bosses approval. She tired of hearing me fuss.

Hot Passenger side air

Did anyone ever find a solution for this? My 2006 is at dealer now with dash removed as they throw parts at it.

Not yet, working on it. Looks like the problem is caused by lack of air moving over the condensor. So MikeyB and I are looking at fitting fans on our condensors.

Does anyone have a Geno's condensor guard on their truck? I need a measurement from it to the grill. Need to know how much clearance.

Guys - I've been away so not up to speed with the latest comments. Some notes...

I found a 04 truck that has the temp swing on the passenger side. Up to 16 degrees increase easily! I haven't had time to work on it, but recharged the system and it helps a little (maybe a 10 degree swing now).

Service looks to be messed up (dealer can't order the new part number). They need to get the new AC liquid line released. This is the one with the larger orifice tube.

For these people who are throwing parts at it. Any luck? Did they happen to replace the compressor?

I'm scratching my head here. Something is out of wrack.....I mean I have one diesel truck that is fine and another that is bad. I'm going to work on this bad one, just not sure when.....maybe in a few weeks.

Hot passenger

I have an 06 4X4 Shortbed CTD with the same problem of hot ineffective passenger A/C. It has been to dealer twice. First time they recharged it & said ok it is fixed. Wrong!!! After a week wait for parts and Technician to get back from school? I took it in yesterday. They pulled the dash & changed the mix valve. I went to pick up truck and it still blows hot in standard mode. In Recurculate, it will cool down. They tried to fake me out by setting it in recurculate and telling me to feel pass side. I need the truck for work so I have decided to try and work with folks at Dodge as dealerships basically throw parts at it without logically troubleshooting system. I think it would be pretty simple if you had dash out to fire it up and see where cold air stops. shesh.

Beemo,
I got my new evap. in and the leak is fixed. I still have a very big temp swing on the passenger side. It is not as bad as it was on recirculate. I have noticed if I turn the A/C off and back on sometimes it improves. Don't know why, dumb luck I guess. I would be glad to take it back to the dealer and let him put a compressor and new orifice tube line in when it is available. Just let me know.

I take it your truck is under warranty......if so I would say go for a compressor swap (make sure they do oil matching to ensure the proper amount of oil). I won't be able to send a line out until say September (I'm headed out on a road trip for the next couple weeks). 55056809AA is the new liquid line assembly part number and I believe 55056808AA is just the line with the orifice in it. We found this line with the larger orifice tube fixed the issue on the late 06 trucks. We tested and tested stop and go type conditions and no issues. I can't speak much for the earlier systems as I wasn't around then.
