Hounddog I agree with you. Once he tries this I am going to have him add more freon (2-2.2 lbs total). The dealer did show me a document about a fin temp senor relocation that covered 03-05, hopefully they try this at the same time.

I noticed my temps to be 44 on drivers side and 46 on pass. side. This was on recirc. and the temp was 103 outside. All is still good and I have to get a new piece of wood to knock on now. It took the probe 3 mins. to go from 125 to 44 driving down the road.

Angry 03 CTD Doesn't blow air at all

My 03 (2500 4X4 4door long bed) Doesn't blow air at all, a/c or not. It just stops moving air. Quite a problem in 100 degree heat. Leave it off for a half hour or so, drive w/ windows open, and sometimes it comes back on. What little air drifts out is cold and I can hear the fan motor blowing. Dealer checed the a/c and said it's fine. I'm going back.

The head pressure sensor/transducer is on the discharge line (just "downstream" from the compressor). The engine controller reads the pressure from the head pressure transducer and turns on the engine fan accordingly. More charge creates higher pressure, causing the engine to turn the fan on more frequently (fan lowers system pressure).

Good point on holding a vacuum to check for leaks! If you go in for service, make sure that they do this to ensure that there are no leaks in your system.

It sounds like some people are experiencing this because low charge creates this issue.

Cool, Beemo your back. Hang around for a while. My truck goes back in on Monday for the evap. We'll see how the A/C works after that. Did you ever figure out why the high side pressure is spiking to 450 psi with a cold truck an the fan is not coming on and what affect this is having on the compressor? The fan will engage it just take a few minutes.

Well I got my truck back, dealer decided not to do the fin temp sensor and instead charged the system to 2.1 lbs per my request. I will write back after my 900 mile move with the results. The dealer also informed me that there might be a new line available soon. He was given a part number that is not currently in their system but DC said that they would send him one. That is all I know about the new line and will write when I know more. Maybe beem0 knows something about this new line and can inform us.

This is probably the new orifice tube line that BEEMO was talking about. Hopefully Beemo is making a difference with us on DTR. At least they are trying something. I sure would like to have a reflash with the new fan optimization done to it.

Saturday visit at the freindly Dodge dealer and the A/C only had .862 lbs in the system. Clearly half of what it needs. Dye was put in and recharged. Cools like a meat locker for now.

Also had them do the high idle feature. They had to flash the controller and then they could enable it via DRB. Works great. No chrage. They did it under warranty I guess as the flash took some time.

Will update on what is found for a leak. I cannot really recall the A/C ever working really well since new so maybe it was never properly filled up. Time will tell. Truck only has 12K so far.

It came from the factory with DYE if I'm not mistaken. Mine did and has a STICKER stating so.

I was thinking the same thing that mine was not properly filled from the factory also. When you think about it, we are talking millions of dollars in savings to leave them a little low from the factory. A friend of mine has an 05 also and his was the same as mine. All is good now with his also.
