Unplugging the EGR
No problems here. Unplugged it 2 weeks ago now. About the only negative is that the beast takes longer to warm up. This may prove to be more of an issue in the winter time but for now it's smooth sailing! In town mileage has gone from about 12mpg to 15. I'm taking a 1200 mile return trip this weekend. Last time I got 20.2mpg hand calculated (empty). I'm thinking that I should see 23 or maybe even 24mpg. Will report next week upon return.
So, for anyone who did this and still has the factory exhaust system in place, how many miles have you driven like this? The big debate on this is if the DPF and NOx filters will clog much quicker...
It is my understanding that they can only count Key cycles. A warm up and cool down would be a key cycle. If you clear all the info out of the computer you go back to no key cycles and that will throw a flag.
I for one can play the dumb blond if need be.

Yeah, I'd like to know what this does down the road too?? Kind of worried what it might screw up.
I doubt they could tell that this plug was unplugged. Of course they would know that there was a CEL and an EGR code if you didn't wait for them to go away before taking it to the dealer but I would just list the CEL as one of the reasons you are bringing your truck in that day and play dumb. So many trucks are having EGR issues and that has been happening long before we started talking about unplugging it....
I always worry about my warranty but I also just cannot turn down an opportunity to gain 3+ mpg when fuel costs so much. Especially when the mod is free and takes only 30 seconds to complete. If you unplug and the truck doesn't run right then just plug it back in. No fuss no muss........

Once again I agree with Dodgezilla. One thing to think about is that they put a premium ring kit in the 6.7 engine. That was because they knew they would be dumping lots of soot into it and soot is abrasive. This is practically a quote from the Cummins guy I talked to before I bought my truck. Stopping EGR from flowing in your engine, stops all the soot that would normally NEVER be there. I can't think of ONE reason why this would be a BAD THING????
