The last 5-6 numbers/letters are the important ones.
The ending should look like 28me or DRM01K. In both cases the "M" in the endings indicate they're delete tunes.
If the ending has an "S" in it then its an emissions (street) legal tune and doesn't allow deletes.
If its a street legal tune then all you have to do is load the correct delete tune and you're good to go.
You can get the delete tunes here: http://www.topgundieselperformance.com/#!delete1/c1cfm

Are the most recent (topgun site) ME tunes in each category the cleanest/best? Trying to clean up my ME Folder and no need to keep older tunes if not necessary...

Cleanest? Probably
Best? I know there's some problematic ones but it really depends on the individual tuned truck.
I've only been on the forums for a couple of years but I've only seen a couple of tunes reported as problem free. To me its try it and change if you don't like it.

On a side note, if you have tunes that aren't on the site above please email Charlie and see if he can add them. And/or email them to me xcc_rider(at)yahoo(dot)com and I'll add them to the dropbox site. Charlie can add them to his site from there.

thx, dan

I've went through the progression of software changes for several years now, but only the ones that pertain to the S04/S06 Smarty's. There were a few that had to be tweaked in the early versions, especially the beta's, but that's their purpose.

I can personally vouch for the "box" tune S06/TNT dated Sept/28/2012 (S06PV411E_UTS01C) as far as it's compatibility with 03/04 trucks. It is the only TNT tune that I have used, that I can run max (2) timing without any popping or bucking, this is a clean, smooth tune that produces nice power without issues on my truck. This is what I am looking to compile with the ME softwares.

I have no personal use for the ME tunes or Delete instructions at this time. I am just building a database that I would like to contain the cleanest software for each JR/SR 6.7 application to date. Sorta like I had with all my old BullyDog tunes...

Your assistance in pointing out the TG site is greatly appreciated, I am off to a good start. I have to pick up a few more thumb drives for copies, so far the only ME files I possess are on my desktop, and do not want to lose them now.

Anyone currently running ME software, and are considering updating their Smarty's, need to be sure of what they are updating to, and have a copy of what they currently have.

If the only copy of the current ME software you possess is on the Smarty itself, how could one copy that? Are you able to copy directly off the Smarty somehow? If not, I would be obtaining copies from another source while still available...

Thanks Again for the help, Jess

This penny pinching Scot on the verge of a purchase

Ok. A parallel post to my one in Deleting the 6.7.

Inherited a 2009 Ram 2500, standard cab. 6.7. 6sp manual. 60k miles. Injector system, exhaust system soot failure in 2012. Complete warranty rebuild as result. Truck in Pennsylvania. Home in Arizona, in non-smog-testing county. Original thought was to drive cross country first, delete when I get home. Now wondering if I should delete first. I have about 2 weeks in PA to "get it right" before a long hot trip.

Advice on how/where to get the best Smarty with an eye for deletes and which tune package is best for mileage and eventual towing once the deletes are completed? I am looking to buy in the next week or so - trying to do my homework so I hope I don't sound foolish. I've read all 530+ posts in the delete thread, but still hazy on how to buy the right unit. I know the M series software is for the deletes and S is for street/stock legal. I know to be sure that it is not locked to a VIN if it is used.

But how do I get my hands on the hardware? e-Bay has a lot of packages but they don't really say if they are US serials or not, which seems to be the hot point. Also, this thread suggests that some tune packages are faulty, which is something I hadn't grasped in prior reading.

Ideally I'd like to by the DPF delete kit as well as the EGR delete kit as well.

Is there a best "package deal" anyone has encountered? Are there retailers who sell the Smarty I need, or do I email each e-Bay vendor to root out a non-US model with M series software? The DTR store looks to me to be the US stuff.

Thanks to all especially xcc_rider who has already spent 1/2 a day explaining things!
