New Info on inspections in Texas and DPF deletes

I just got my 06 inspected and had to have a muffler on it but thank goodness i found one that looks like a muffler but sounds like a straight....anyway, i asked the guy at the inspection place (who does things by the book) about the 6.7l guys who do the DPF delete kits. he told me that as of right now the state will inspect a 6.7l with the DPF delete kit just as long as it has some sort of muffler underneath no matter if it meets the emissions requirements or not. Just thought i'd throw out that little bit of info to the guys in texas worried about the inspections this year.

those state inspections just seem like a hassle. that would pee me off if i had to put my muffler back on just for an inspection.

Actually, if this is all it takes and would stay that way Id love it. I could even leave my stacks in place and toss the stock back on open ended. Would take all of about 20 mins.

Fortunately we dont have to worry bout that in LA yet.

Yeah id agree up to the point where you said it takes 20 mins.lol For the past 6 months ive been beatin my guts out trying different mufflers for something that sounds good. and just said heck with it on the 3rd try i just straight piped it. This time i used antiseize on the flanges.. I was just looking for that right pitch and the straight pipe is now in my favor. Thank god i dont replace mufflers for a living, i dont have the patients. I will end up beating up a customers car and possibly taking it out on the dog.lol

just an idea for those with stacks, why not use the drop in stack mufflers?

just use a grinding wheel on the outside edge to make them drop in and be easily removed with a quick pull from a coat hanger.

real shocked that they would even think about passing a state test with those other items removed tho.
