My new 06 air filter questions

Hey everyone,
I just bought an 06 dually 4x4 w/ auto & of course the 5.9 cummins. I had untill 2 weeksago my reliable 01 but someone hit me and totaled it! My question is Will an air intake w/ the K&N filter cause problems with sensors on this newer motor. I had one on my 01 and I liked it. But I had someone tell me that it will mess up sensors on this truck. Any Info would be great. Thanks.

Recession buster CAI.

Save your money and do the Home Depot CAI mod and install a Airraid oiled dropin from Genos with renewal kit. Less than $100 otd. Good for 450 hp. Quiet!

Oiled air cleaners

I have the same question as eot, but for a 6.7 litre. The question is not: Which oiled air cleaner is cheapest? but rather: Do oiled air cleaners cause problems with the MAF sensor?

This is not a trivial question. I also own a VW diesel and the feedback on that engine is that oiled air cleaners very frequently toast the MAF sensor.

I've heard that K&N in order to bust that myth actually submerge a MAF sensor in their oil and it works fine. Not to hijack so, I run the drop-in K&N and I have used the drop-in AirRaid. No issues to mention.

Air filter & MAF

Thanks, good to hear. I expect there are differences in MAF sensor design, because the oil issue is evidently not a scam in the case of VW sensors.

my $.02 is to leave the stock system alone, but I do swap my air filters out every oil change (7500 miles)... I found running them much over that and I started to love 1-2 mpg...

They are only like $13, so it is cheap swap out.

I haven't owned this for long, but it looks like the filters for a 6.7L are quite a bit pricier. I like the filter minder doo-dad.
