Glad to help anyone out.
I know how confusing/aggravating/intimidating all of this stuff can be to the guys just breaking into it.
We are lucky in that we have a good group of guys on here that are knowledgeable and truly understand the workings of the 6.7 Bluetec system, and one of us is pretty much on here at any given time to help out.
Great group of guys here no doubt.
The rumor of the EGR being a wastegate is sorta false. The EGR is used to reduce combustion pressures in the engine by reducing the amount of free oxygen and raising inlet temperatures. In a way it reduces the amount of energy for drive pressure to the turbo. Long story , long.. Sorta. In all truth the 6.7 uses the variable nozzle of the turbo to create the same effect of the wastegate up to a certain power level. After that the full open of the nozzle is not enough to control boost or turbo speed so an aftermarket wastegate is the way to go.
On the side...
A buddy of mine just did the downpipe delete as well as the DPF system and said it reduced his egts by at least 50-100°F above just the CAT-DPF delete. Hmmm, now I may have a to buy that system and sell my other delete pipe...
