dpf and egr delete help

hey guys,

First I just want to say thanks for I the great advice looking through the forum. Secondly, I have got an 08 Megacab with a six inch Pro Comp lift and I am running 35x12.5x17 Pro Comp All-Terrains and was getting about 15-16 mpg on paper till about 3 weeks ago. Now my mpg is any where from 10.5-12 and that sucks. After doing some research I want to hear want yall have to say about doing a dpf delete and egr cooler with egr delete. What can I expect performance, mpg, and otherwise. I fully understand I can kiss my warranty good bye but i would rather see the performance anyhow. Also, want tuners and intake would you all suggest. Thanks for everything

Sounds like a great time to do the deletes!!

There are a couple of great delete kits out there with other companies coming up. For the money I would look at H&S performance. i got mine from Rollinsmokediesel.com and could not have been happier!! He has all the goodies and knowledge to get your 6.7 runnin right. Don't worry about the code free kits cause none of them seem to be working yet. The other good system is BADP and it is stainless but also almost 400.00 more!!
The 2 chip kits i would look at are the Edge Juice/Attitude and the Bullydog PMT. I have the Edge and love it! It was a bit less than the PMT and you get a little less with it but it has been very nice. Both the Edge and PMT have the ability to clear codes on startup which makes it very nice to not have that check engine light on all the time!!

I did a lot of research on intakes and kinda decided that unless you are looking for huge power adds then don't bother with a full intake. Pull the baffle out of yours and what I did was put an AFE dry filter in. Some guys are cutting big holes in the bottom of the air boxes too.

Hope this helps
Chris

I agree with ChrisM. Delete it and do the Edge Juice w/att. EGR block will get you the best fuel economy increase as it keeps the air charge cool, and keeps the engine clean. My oil is almost clear now, even after 5k miles on it. EGTs are much lower and throttle response is great. It's like a whole new truck.
No need to remove all the EGR cooler stuff though. I would keep it in the corner of the garage as they will start testing in the next few years and you will need to temp replace it for that.
Have fun! your truck will rip!

How many times have you changed it since you did the deletes? I have at least 2 changes, maybe three, and it seems like it gets cleaner each time. I also use Gaurdal 15w40 from Union 76. It is still the CI-4 rated oil and not the CJ-4. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. ????
