First code

Well 50,000km and no codes or trouble, been running the Smarty Jr. on 3 with on demand at 60%, timing 4 and tourque default, to see if I could get a little better milage, for the last couple weeks and did seem to get better milage. Then it happened! Today on the way home I had a little trouble with the tranny sticking or late shifting, got the code " P-0700-Transmission Control System (MIL Request) " , after adjusting the on demand back to 99 and tourque to 2, it seems the problem went away, except that the code won't clear. What does this code mean?

This is a generic code or soft code telling the ECM there are more codes in the TCM. This will require a StarScan to monitor the TCM in order to diagnose what is going on inside there.

P0700-TRANSMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM (MIL REQUEST)
For a complete wiring diagram Refer to the Wiring Information.

When Monitored:
Ignition on and battery voltage greater than 10 volts.

Set Condition:
An active DTC is stored in the TCM. One Trip Fault. Three good trips to turn off the MIL.

Possible Causes
DTC PRESENT IN THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE

Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Engine Control (ECM) - Standard Procedure).

DTC PRESENT IN EATX CONTROLLER
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. This is an informational DTC letting you know that a DTC(s) is stored in the Transmission Control Module.
2. Erase this DTC from the ECM after all Transmission DTC(s) have been repaired.
3. Using a scan tool, read the Transmission Controller DTC and refer to the Transmission Category and perform the appropriate symptom.

PCM Diagnostic Information complete.

Continue

Test Complete.

Thanks Dizzle, everything seems to be working fine since going back full power and CEL went away on its own. I think the Trans. didn't like the reduced power, it was shifting at higher than usual RPM's, even before it started to stick. Do I still need to use a Starscan?

Scan says there is a problem with line pressure, had the Smarty Jr. at SW3 most of the time but not while towing, also had the BD Line Pressure Booster in place, don't know if that worked or not, but I'm advised to rebuild the Tranny, Dont have 6000.00 lying around right now. Anybody else rebuilt or replaced their Tranny, Stock or High Performance? Cost's? Any input would be great.

You say there is a line pressure issue. Is this too high or low pressure? I see you have this booster, so maybe that is a contributing factor. I would certainly look into the small stuff before $6K on a tranny...

Line pressure is low so there is a leak somewhere. It has to come out to fix it so rebuilding is the recommendation. I do plan on taking it to another shop to get another opinion. Maybe the pressure booster cause the leak or maybe my heavy foot. A little premature any way 210,000km.

I heard recently that someone had an issue with the internal screw on filter being loose and causing internal leakage... Make sure all the easy stuff is checked out.

I Wonder if the filter can work its way loose. My last service on the tranny was 70,000km ago maybe a year and a half. Going to another shop tomorrow, apparently they've rebuilt 4 in the last month. Not knowing much about transmissions, I'm at their mercy, just going with referrals right now. I definitely want the pan dropped and innards checked before it comes out.

S I've yet to go to another shop but if this turns into a rebuild what are some of the upgrades I should do in order to ensure this doesnt happen again? I'd like it to handle the extra 100hp and torque that the jr. can dish out. Any Idea's?
