The Effects Good & Bad Of DPF Delete

If your dealer has no better techs today, I'd imagine you'd have a potentially lackluster experience with a 4th GEN.

A friend and I did the deletes on his 08 dodge 2 weeks ago. We originally put 5" exhaust on a year ago but used the BADP Gen 2 kit to delete the DPF. He ran that for a year and kept getting engine light and had a few other problems with it too.
Two week ago he finally got his smarty for the truck with all the latest and greatest updates to it. We ended up pulling the BADP stuff off, plugged the hole in the exhaust where the sims were, deleted the EGR, and removed the butterfly valve in the intake. He's been driving alot for the last week an a half and said his mileage has drastically gone up. He's not getting any engine lights anymore and the other issues he had are all gone. From talking to him on the phone he said the truck is running alot better than how it was running before.

MMMmmmm.... Grits!!
I helped McMopar on here do one a few weeks back and I just want to share a little experience. The guys truck had many many problems. None of which were resolved before we did the deletes and S67 ME package. Within a week of doing the deletes the guy is having troubles. The truck is shutting off, skipping and generally running rough at times. I get to the truck start it and it is very rough. Turn it off and start it again, same thing but not as bad. Take a short trip and immediately starts running better. Many stops it's fine until pulling back in the yard. Real rough running. White smoke and all. So I borrow the truck tonight and check the butterfly valve. Gummy and nasty. I read somewhere else it could close and get stuck. Had to be it. I scrubbed and cleaned it of all the gummy baked on soot and put it back together. Nice and smooth now. Will try it again in the morning to verify improvement. MORAL: if you have had any troubles prior to doing the deletes, get the butterfly valve cleaned, REMOVE the CCV hose where it feeds the turbo, and let it blow to the atomsphere. Also look into changing the CCV filter on top of the valve cover.
