Perfect, thanks!

I'm doing the deletes this afternoon using my MiniMaxx. I'll update once I'm done.

Hi All,
I am new to this forum. I have a 2009 Ram Cummins G56. I have been having problems with my exhaust system so I decided to do a full delete. It should be in my hands tomorrow, so hopefully I will be starting on it toworrow. I have a couple questions before I start though.
1. Will the Mini Maxx force a Regen?
2. How much coolant gets drained out for the egr cooler delete?
3. What is the best order of operations for the delete, Delete then tune, or tune then delete?

Last Wednesday my truck started having a lower tone to the idle and the whole truck stated to vibrate. This happened right after I changed fuel filter. Maybe I accidently got some dust in filter and it is blocking an injector? Also thought it could be stuck egr valve as it has been throwing a code that I can’t read by cycling the key three times, so I took it off but it appeared to be functioning properly. Also I think it could possibly be due to the dpf. The overhead display is reading exhaust filter full, power reduced, see dealer. I am thinking about installing the mini maxx before deleting and seeing what the codes read.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Ideally, I would figure out all the issues to my stock truck first before deleting. That way, if you ever have to go back to stock, you know the items were working. If you never have to go back to stock then that is ideal too. Also, it would eliminate additional variables if there are issues after deleting. Worse case, is you find out there are problems with your emissions (like you suspect) and don't want to fix them and then just delete knowing what is wrong...

I would try the tuner install first to make sure that goes smoothly before the mechanical stuff.

Using the H&S MiniMaxx and doing a "soft" delete (nothing removed, just installed the delete tune) and all the codes went away. I was quite pleased with that, and figured it was time to take the next step.

Finally got done removing, and properly storing for future emissions testing, all that junk and it's working fine.

When it's time to put it back in I think I'll have someone do it like a muffler shop, or find someone with a lift. Being on a freezing concrete floor, I have a knot/cold spot on my back that's killing me.

Thanks for the post and the suggestions .... now it even blows a little bit of smoke, too!

I second the question about draining coolant. I have not seen a single EGR delete write up that talks about draining coolant or dealing with it pouring out when you remove these parts.

Can anyone comment?

Drain it below the level of the egr cooler and vent it on refill

Trans Temp

Searched and couldn't find an answer. It seems like the only way to monitor the EGT's is by tapping the manifold and running a sensor. What about the trans temp? I have an OBD2 connector and couldn't find any trans temps being broadcast.

How do people monitor the trans temps?

There is a trans temp available thru the obd port. That's the one I watch on my edge CTS.

Hmmm, I wonder if it's because I have the manual trans. We have almost the same truck except I have the manual and 4wd. I plugged in my OBD2 bluetooth and paired it with my Android phone, then downloaded the Torque Pro app, and went through the list of data it was receiving and couldn't find trans temp....maybe I'll have to take another look.

There's no trans obd temp available for a manual trans.

So is the mini maxx the only new off the shelf that will delete DPF/EGR? I know you can find a used smarty (or borrow if someone was so inclined) to do the delete. Just trying to get a more up to date list of what I need.

So far what I have down is MBRP 4 inch single outlet exhaust, intake horn and egr block offs from GDP and obviously the software. Gotta love that Florida has no emissions/inspection.

EFI Live is another option. Smarty is locked to a VIN and can only be used on one truck at a time.

Didn't know that. Thank you for the information.

Anything else you would suggest while I have it all apart?
