A/C clutch bolt broke
Has anybody ever had the A/C clutch bolt break off. I'm referring to the 1/4 " bolt that holds the clutch disc on the splined shaft that comes out the front of the compressor. I can just grab whats left of the bolt with vice grips but the shaft rotates inside the pump.
Thinking of trying to weld a nut on whats left of the bolt ( weld in center) and then using a air gun to try to spin it out.
I see no way to hold the spline as its covered by the bearing shaft.
Ant ideas ?

I had the same problem as you only it was on my 07 5.9 @ the end of a pull. The track official gave me my outer part of the clutch. I got lucky and was ably to use a left hand drill bit to get it to spin out. I had to pull the air box to get to the top 2 bolts and then take out the 2 bottom bolts. After that I was able to move the compressor to get better access for drilling. I first tried the easy out but the spline shaft started to spin and I did not want to put vise grips on it if it was not needed. The bolt is a metric if I remember correctly (6mm?) and mine had a little thread locker on it. I was unable to use the weld tech do to the fact it broke of inside the shaft.

Pretty common issue. I'm going to replace mine as soon as I work up the nerve.
