Missing exhaust bolt: broke or backed out?

Well I was looking over the engine and noticed that the rearmost top exhaust bolt is missing. I haven't stuck anything in there to cofirm that it backed out completely or just the head broke off. What is more common. I guess with my luck that its broke off. So is this means for a 3 piece manifold, and well since I'm there it would be the best time for a 2nd turbo......................ARGH, er I guess I should figure out what happened first. Only thing I can think of is during that roadtrip to FL the truck overheated on 2 mountains pulls. As soon as I pulled over the "Check guages" light came on Yea so hopefully if its broke there is no tension on the threads since the head is gone. Until I finish typing this, currently there is no exhaust leak, or none that I can hear.

Probably fell out, fairly common. Get the ATS 3-piece manifold, you will be glad you did!!!!

Sometime in the 2001 model year, Dodge came out with a fix.

Mine has keeper straps to help hold the exhaust manifold bolts in.

Yep, not a problem. The 24 valves are forever barfing out manifold bolts. There is a bulletin regarding the retaining straps that Phox mentioned.

Did a quick scan through Dodgeram.org and didnt see it there. I look more in depth later, unless it is somewhere else? Thanks for the heads up.

Thats what I thought also, but my 01.5 did not have the straps. Maybe it was a recall and the previous owner never took it in?? Now I have the ATS Allen screws drilled and safety wired.
