What is the easiest way to determine the transmission I have?? I am looking at transmission pans at dieselmanor.com and curious as to which one I should get. Any suggestions are welcomed.

Now that I know is that good or bad. I don't tow but mabey once a week and its just hauling cattle within 40-50 miles. Thanks again!!

 

You will get all sorts of happy people and unhappy people-but I have 117K on mine and my Dad has 75K on his, when his truck moves he usually has a 17-18,000 lb trailer hooked to it.

 

I'm not too happy with mine boughtthe truck used with 48,000 on it it went out at 51,000

 

47RE in general is not that bad if you maintain it and drive it right. Mine was at 159K when I swapped it for the ATS and it had never slipped on me once. Don't use overdrive when towing unless you know how to feel for lockup. When the TC comes out of lockup in OD you're done!

 

What do you mean "when the TC comes out of lockup you are done"??? They have to come out of lock up before they will downshift.
