96 Diesel Auto-transmission Slipping

My transmission has started to noticibly slip and delays engaging on startup. I have 110,000 miles on the unit and have had no problems untill now. The fluid level and condition seems fine. Is this somthing major or possibly caused by something simple? Any suggestions on what I could check before having to take it to a shop??

Welcome ot the site. The delay on start up is probably normal...let it warm up in Neutral (not Park) for a few seconds.
The slipping could be serious, depending on when and under what conditions the slip occurs.

You might check the TV cable adjustment to make sure that is sending the correct signal to the VB.
I recommend that you call Tom Meers at BlackMountain Diesel or Bill Kondolay at diesel transmission technologies.
george

First, check level, with truck running place in drive then in reverse and then in neutral, then check level on dipstick.
Second, there is a check valve in the transmission cooler line which can malfunction and allow the torque converter to drain down overnite. Not a problem. Either replace the line or just place transmission in neutral for 30 secs before driving off.
