XZT Tow Box Install

Did a search and could find the answer...... What does the installation procedure on the XZT tow box involve? Do you have to tap into any wiring that may be detected by the dealer or is it just plug and go? I know I'm responsible for engine problems caused by the box, just don't want any problems when something like the A/C goes out.

if you get the newer one with the tps tap, then you will put a t-tap on the throttle wire.but,if you will just pull the loom apart at the split, and do the tap a good 4 inches or so back up it,if you ever take it off, they would never find it....................bama

Mine took about 15 minutes to install and that included making all the wiring look neat. It is plug and go. I had my transmission flushed a couple of weeks ago and pulled the box and harnass off in about 5 minutes before I went to the dealer.

I have had my box about a year now and I had to send it in a couple of weeks ago so the wire harness and box could be upgraded to work with the Commander monitor. When I got it back it did not have a TPs tap on the harness that I saw.

The latest XZT does not need the TPS tap to work. IT will look for the TPS signal, but if it is not there it runs the non-tps version. This is new and not the old TPS version. It is very smooth with no troubles. I am yet to have any issues with any of the newest flashes for the 600.
