Xzt Tow Box and Timing Knock

It seems that I have a timing knock or clatter in the 1800-2600 rpm when excellerating in overdrive. Seems to be more pronouced with the box then without - same with a load or without. The knock or clatter has been there since truck was new I think - its funny what you hear or don't hear when you get around other trucks. Just wanted to be sure this is normal. How does the xzt accually work. Some old man told me I had an injector problem and the increased pressure from the box was making the knock or clatter more pronounced. Just wondering - The truck runs like a scalded ape......... Diesel trucks and boxes is new stuff to me.
THANKS GUYS,
Tim

I I do not have any more noticeable knock on mine with the Quad box and I adjusted the crank sensor on mine along with it . Somebody correct me if I am wrong but I think the box is a mild pressure box and does a little timing also .

No knock at any rpm for me you may have a bad injector . Does it go away with the box off ?

knock is still there without the box just not as pronounced... I'm beginning to think I have a injector problem and its not from the box. I hand the knock befor the box.

I'm not sure if this is the same thing I had a knock at idle. I use the Power service (16oz) and MMO (4oz) each and every tank. Never heard the knock again. It won't hurt to try this if you don't already use it.

i have the knock with the box on or off too. people say that knock may be a sign of a bad injector. but wouldn't you smell or see diesel fuel in the engine compartment? gas mileage would suffer too. plus you would see additional smoke out the tail pipe, i would think. i have none of those issues. i just think some trucks are more prone to the knock than others.

With an injector that is dribbling, you won`t always get the smell of fuel or a smoking problem.

hmmmm, do a search for "sea foam" on this site. Sounds like they just need a real good cleaning
