Xmonitor or gauges?
Re:Xmonitor or gauges?
You all might want to sit in a 3g truck with the triple pillar mount before you purchase. Because of how much further the windshield is layed back compared to a 2g it has a much more in your face feeling than before. I was originally planing on a 3 pillar mount myself because I'm one of those people who prefer analog. I couldn't get past the in your face feeling though. Seems like it bothers some but not others. This is what initially pushed me towards the xmoniter. Once I did get the xmoniter I came to like it almost immediately. It wasn't any harder to read at a glance than my beloved analogs. The extra features are really nice and the look fits in very well with the interior. The only real downside IMO is how much they charge for it.

That's what I've been thinking... and the reason I'm waiting for the truck until I get this picked.
Looks like the xmonitor is moving ahead though... can I tell my wife you told me to do this when she sees the charge bill?

new furniture???
How did you know that? This has already cost a new sofa and loveseat and now I've learned that this mean I must paint the room too.
uh-oh... what happens next?

I had guages on my '89 and liked them. I wanted them on the '03, but like many on the board, didn't want to lose my grap handle and none of the other mounting positions looked good to me, sooooo I got the X-Monitor. It works all right, but unlike other people on the board, I find that I cannot read it most of the time in the daylight. That may be because the truck has a gray dashpad and the monitor case is painted gray. Still and all I have to hold my hand over the top of it many times to read it. Still and all, I don't come near the 1300-degrees that Cummins says is the max they want, and the boost doesn't seem to be able to top out either, even towing 8500# over the mountains. I use it mostly for cool-down purposes and am going to purchase the cool-down timer to get away from the "sitting in the seat" aggravation.
