Would AERO4040xl raise EGTS? worse than stocky
By now you have all heard that i have a egt issue with my edge juice attitude. I can easily hit 1300 on level 1. My question is that is the aero the culprit. Lots say that it is. I deleted my cat and stock muffler and put the aero4040 where the cat was. Did I increase back pressure by doing this? should i put stock muffler back on to lower egts? Sounds like the stock muffler lowers egts by the sound of things?

i have never heard of freeing up exhaust flow increasing EGT's. I could be wrong but you did not increase backpressure. I have 5" turbo back (everything gone), have a 24" long 5"in/out resonator with stacks and my EGT's rarely go above 1200 with the smarty.

Stock, they can get to 1,400*F. The '04.5 motors have a higher threshold for EGT"s than the previous models. I don't have the sources/data here with me, but it's here on DTR.

imho, i don't think there is any way the aeroturbine could possibly be more restrictive than the factory cat. You can hold the cat up to the sun in the middle of summer and not see a speck of light through it.

true. my aero4040xl has a 4" dia. hole right threw the entire thing. Could it be because i used factory 4" . Is the factory dodge 4" mandrel bent? Would I of been better of to buty like a aftermarket 4" exhaust instead like mbrp or ats etc...?

These truck run hot, the smarty is the only power adder that will actually lower egts, at the expense of hotter pistons so I still think its a trade off. Make the pistons really hot or make the turbo hot, personally the turbo is lots cheaper to replace.

I'm going to keep an eye on this thread. I was just getting ready to put the 4040XL on my truck. Now I'm second guessing even though I don't think it could be the cause for the high EGTs. I've been told just to leave the factory exhaust alone because it's already 4".

I just put the 4040XL on my truck and I love it. Makes a nice deep tone, sounds great. I have not had a chance to tow anything yet, but driving around town it has seemed to lower my egt's by about 100*.
