AERO exhaust salesman told me to put AERO4040xl where

A sales rep from AERO told me to put the aero 4040xl as far back as possible on my truck(via where stocker is). He said that would be better than where the cat is. Is he right?

my guy told me to pu it as close to the turbo as possible, so mine is right after my downpipe turns back. This is my 3rd one on 3 different trucks and i love them. If you are really wanting to know contact AERO and find out which would be best.

He is correct. Over time the packing will get burnt out with it close to the turbo. The further away from the engine the better.

The further forward it goes the worse the drone. I had, well still have, one on the truck. The drone was unbearable in cab pulling any type of load. Added the 30" MBRP and it helped alot.

I thought there was no packing in Aero's. That is one of the reasons i bought one when i had the Hemi.

I installed mine 4 inches behind the cat, as it said in the installation instructions. When pulling my 5er or under any load the drone was a killer. I called them (Aero) up and they told me, that installing it 4 inches behind the cat (or if you cat got lost, behind the turbo) would help lower egt. If I didn't want any drone, to install it as far to the rear of truck as possible, under the truck bed, back more than the stock muffler was. I installed it 4 inches in front of the tail pipe bend where it goes up over rear axle. NO DRONE, I love it and it sounds excellent.

I've had it on now for close to 2 years and it does sound better now. But still NO DRONE.

I was thinking the same on my mega cab.taking the stock resonator off at the bend over the axle and putting the AERO in its place. Should work .

Installed mine in the stocker location- no drone. Aero rep mentioned when I inquired that closer to the turbo would be better performance- even two in a row, but it would be loud in the cab. I'm pretty happy where it is.

I installed mine where the stocker was also (even a few inches further back). I have a mega and kept the resonator on. Overall great sound and no drone.
My wife is even happy with the sound.

Mine went right where the old muffler was I added a lenght of 4" we had laying around to make up the diffrence. At first I loved it but after 4 plus years Im wanting something a little more quit. The next thing I want is a full 4" system leaning torads the MRRP but just need to save up some cash first, and if thats still to load I might put the Aero back on up close to the downpipe to see if it would help tone it down. Anyone else out there done anything like that?(sorry to highjack the thread)
