Terry I talked to Jason on the pressure thing, he knows what is going on and its not a lack of rail pressure, give him a call.

No real info to share yet... we need to do some more tuning; Up to now this has been all smarty; we're going to hook the TST back up and start low on smarty sw... work our way up incrementally with the TST and see what happens.

FWIW, the smarty is great by itself... I just can't run the timing sw's without the popping... so we're going to dial in the timing with the TST and see at what level the popping returns.

I don't have the revo version of the TNT/R yet so I can't choose the timing options from that.

Right now, there doesn't appear to be a fuel supply issue. I get the SOTP feeling though that I am right on the edge of fuel shortage on sw8. Sw6-- no problems...

I had a lot of timing rattle with the first Non revo tune but with the revo tnt/r I have no timing issues.

If this the the turck Jasons been working on you have a Stage 3 pump right? I can not imagine that your rail is anywhere dry. Do you have an injector problem?

IMO put another cp3 on there , I bet your timing rattle goes away & rp will increase ! the dual cp3 will allow a higher rp then a modified single pump

floor it modified single cp3s are nice & a big improvement over a single stocker , but the dual cp3 set up is magical they just really fix a lot of fuel problems , rattle, rail draining , etc.

I simply cannot believe 2.4 fluxs can cause any problem your describing

TNT-R on my truck #9 with added pressure of 50-60 % from mp8 = zero rattle

try to look further for a problem , it's not smarty TNT-R or fluxs 2.4 making this happen .....

His CP3 in a new Floor it Stage 3. I can not imagine it is draining the rail to cause the rattle he is describing, so much so rattle that his has to run his TNT on even numbers? Knowone else has made any mention of this and some are runinng bigger sticks and a single pump. IMHO, I think something might be up with the injectors.

soulezoo,
that poping sound @ or arround WOT could be timing related. There have always been trucks that liked raised timing less than others. That's been the main reason that has lead me to develop the revo tunes....

On Friday I've relased a new Revo TNT/R version with revised ( slightly less ) timing. IF your poping comes from the timing than it's likely that version 5.3 will fix it. I'd try the software first before throwing parts at it.

Shoot me a PM.

Marco

A couple of thoughts

What I found was with the flux 2.4's and TNT/R, I can't run the timing settings (sw9, sw7, sw5) with the Smarty... too much timing that shows up as a loud popping/fluttering in the exhaust pipe at certain spots of WOT. At first I thought it was just draining the rail. But it is not... at least not to a great degree.

Any of the even numbered sw's (8,6,4) do not make the noise I described. As far as the rail goes, I see 22.5k max on sw 8 or 9; 23-23.5k on sw6 or 7 and 24k on sw 4 or 5. Just for fun I hooked up the puck with sw 8 and I saw a max RP of 17k on the 90 hp setting and 19k on the 60 hp setting...

So I am thinking... do I need more LP (currently at 32 psi at the pump) or more CP3? (I have Floor It stage 2) Will a modded rail help here?

Thoughts anyone??

One other comment I have to make... the HTT intercooler is just awesome. All the flogging I have done recently has made for some really high air temps from the turbos. Under similar circumstances with the stock intercooler, you could not touch (literally!!) the CAC anywhere without burning your hand. With the HTT unit, while the same temps were so hot on the inlet side of the CAC (again WAY too hot to touch the tank on the inlet), the outlet was very cool, and I would estimate (don't have the IR gun) about 70-75*. This is just surface metal temps by touch. But the difference stock to HTT is just unreal. You have to experience to believe. I was a doubter about aftermarket CAC effectiveness and benefits. I no longer doubt!!!
The rail pressure you posted is too low. You need at least 23.5k for good power and great power is 2 or 3k more for race day. I'd bet the LP is not cutting it. Another possibility,.. did you change your cam? IMO, too many guys just put in their cam and don't degree it in. That can make a major difference in the timing.

You are correct, this is the truck Jason has been working on. But I do not have a stage 3. Those were not ready for release at the time I ordered-- I have a stage 2. Unless John surprised me with an early b-day present.

No, after doing a bunch of tuning runs, the rail is nowhere dry... it won't suck down lower than 22.5K WOT... LP pressure stays at 22psi at WOT...

I suppose one could opine that there is a "volume" (vs pressure) issue... but fuel is there even if "on the edge" if you will.

The noise I describe as "popping" is definitely in the exhaust and it is timing related. More tuning to follow this week.

May bad I thought it had a stage three. It still seems like the stage 2 should still be enough pump.

Got it and will be trying it tonight. Am pretty sure using the "aftermarket injector" timing will cure the popping... I'll report back with results!
