Wont Shift out of 1st at W.O.T.

I have an 03 with a dunrite converter and valvebody. At W.O.T. The truck wont shift until you back out a little then it'll shift then 2nd and 3rd gear are fine. I run a Smarty TNT/R and Hot edge juice w/ Attitude and all the timing off in the smarty. Any ideas?

How long ago was the trans work done??

Sounds like the first gear band or lever might have broken....just had a '06 with the same problem, it had both a broken first gear band and broken apply lever and strap....fried all the direct drive and OD clutches.

The T.V cable (kick-down cable) is too aggresive.

I had the same problem with my truck a few weeks ago. The dealer adjusted the cable and all is well again.

i had same problem on my 03, the TV cable was too aggresive as stated above. my bracket kept bending and causing it to go out of wack. i ordered a new bracket and i back off some pressure and that seemed to help out alot.
i had a banks 3 disc and a suncoast VB, the pressure i backed off was to fix the crappy VB i had.
