WINspeed Heater Grid Delete Test Complete!
Ghost Ram, I have not yet installed my GDP intake horn and grid delete block, but I think your idea is a good one; of course aluminum does conduct heat very well, so depending on how hot those 2 plates get, one might want to use another material, or perhaps use both steel and an aluminum plate with some sort of ceramic material in between. Definitely let us know how you develop this idea!!
where are you takeing boost from? boost bolt?
i wouldnt have thought that much of a presure drop across the hon and grd, but i guess its possable.
My truck will fire up with it's 20* without the grid, but it doesn't like it. I figure the grid is there, may as well use it. That delete would be ok in the summer though I don't think it's worth the hassle for what, 10hp?
after reading the descriptions of the heater and iat sensors in the service manual i think i would still get a code even if i leave the grid hooked up and relocate it. there are two iat sensors, one at the air filter which is a combination baro sensor and the other is on the manifold which is a combination map sensor. if the ecm doesnt see a difference in the temps between the two iat's i believe it will still set a code.
She had been sitting over 12 hours.
Should be another cold one in the morn.
Boost is a result of restriction in the system. Less restriction = less boost. No idea why you would see more? Maybe colder than normal outside temps?
started mine up this morning it was 20 deg. out, it started right up but ran very rough and tons of blue smoke poured out for a while. i think im leaving my grid in at least through the winter because i would hate to get stuck somewhere w/ a truck that wont start. i will try the delete in the summer on the dyno or the track and post my results then.
