the gains would have to be substantial to be justified

Most of the people that think they need it, don't. That is the truth about it. I talked to the builder about this issue. One side of the picture says build a whole bunch and let all kinds of people buy it at their own risk. Other side says, let the people who really need it, buy it. Lots of people have already proven that it really isn't needed by everone. Heck, Tim's truck and my truck are over 1K on fuel only. My peak power was at 3,550 rpm and had the ability to turn 4.2K . What is 5.5K going to do in an instance like that? Run way past peak?

I will say this, it would be nice to play with duration and have it all done with the ECM. Usually small injector trucks need a TST, or something like that, to make more power over the Smarty alone. But as Marco plays with these trucks more and more, tunes can be built for different setups (i.e. this guy has Flux 2s or Flux 5s or whatever).

On my truck, if we knew that multiplication of the TST on 5x5 (flux 5s max power), we could have done it all in the Smarty tune. The chances of getting that info from TST is slim to none. When we put the bigger injectors in, we almost didn't need the TST and the TNT-r tune was only 50 hp lower than the stack. We just ran out of opertunies to add duration to the TNT-r tune.

Im going to agree with you, i dont think i need one, the cool part is the plug-n-play, if you could use it when you need it, would be great but other wise, just converting a truck to just that, NOT FOR ME. I agree with Chris too, he is right the 3.0 class is going to chi* when this thing is on the market. I want to stay in the 2.6, and think the smarty just might be best. I can see a better curve at about 3500 rather thin 4200. But you know that there are the hard core guys even in the small classes that will end up with this. Im sure it will even cause a rule change in some classes. IMO

Problem is....most of the people that think they need a 5000rpm tune will not build their motor for it...There is a ton of work required to turn those rpms
