I started feeling my converter slip while towing with my EZ on level 4 which was a mere 300hp at the wheels. You guys are way past that with a Triple Dog or Quad box. I didn't feel any problems until I was towing but that's the worst time to start having issues. A DTT converter and valve body made it all well again...

Viking, I have a feeling the bullydogs arent that safe on a stock tranny, especially when you turn them up. Ive got an 04 305/555 and run the quad race on lvl 3(140hp), my bullydog power pup on performance(100hp), and it moves! I have run it for a while, stop light racing, and street drags, and no problems yet. Ive been told I will seem them at this rate, but I have like 80k miles and have run oversized tires and havent had my speedo recalibrated. Meaning I have more than 80k for sure. My tranny has held up to 65k miles with chips on. 40k with Banks six gun, and 20k with my current setting. I also plugged my turbo for $1.02 with a brass plug. I might hear some crud for that one, but they sell turbos without wastgates anyway. Ive been told its perfectly safe. I origanially put a boost elbow on and it was supposed to give me 18psi or something. This gives more and keeps more boost in. I also have a quad intake, which produces much more flow than your swiss cheese. I have the mandrel bent 4" mbrp single, which helped a bunch, and I have 4:10 gears with the larger 11.5 rear end that dodge ahas as an option.

On the boxes though. I dont always run the bully dog power pup, and when I do I adjust my quad so that its not real hard on my truck all the time. I basically went up in increments when I had both of the chips and could tell when I needed to stop adding power. I also haad a quad commander on before I stacked them so that I could set my defueling parameters and watch my egts and tranny tems. So I feel its really on how hard you drive it, and how hard you push it, as to how long your stock units will hold up. Just my ignorant .02!

Oh and not to change the subject, but the death wobble wasnt coming from my hbs 2" kit, it was from my worn out ball joints and track bar. My control arms had no play like 4wheel parts said. If I had to do it over, there is an aftermarket track bar from some company I cant remember, but its a heavy duty one. I still havent fixed the slight pull to the right, but I now have some options to get rid of that too. I can now go 90+mph and no wobble! So hopefully its fixed! And the truck rides great!

Easy mod

First of all I would like to say that this is a great site that I have been reading for a year or so. I have just purchased a 2000 3/4 Ram and am trying to get as much knowledge as I can. I also just had my vp44 go on me which the dealertook care of. The Mechanic who was highly recommended suggested I put in anew lift pump as well which I did , and now after reading this forum I have added a BD auxilliary lift pump as well. Cheap insuraunce I hope.I too would like to add some SOP feel without getting in to deep, just something to know you have when you want it but not looking to run around town looking to drag. I like the feedback of the smarty but am confused about alternatives like Edje/juice because it semms like they do not have a programmer for my year truck. All said and done I too would aprrciate any advice as to a setup for a stock Auto that would be fun but streetable

My vote goes to the Diablo Predator. Three levels of performance. Unbelievable data readings... and low price.

Or anything from Quad as he IS the man...

Well it seems like Bullydog has a 3-day trial period for free. Whats the catch? Theres a shop 20 min away that sells BD and can offer me the 3day trial period. Now the only thing I am NOT sure is all the different Quad chips, different EDGE chips, Different Bullydog chips.....etc

Question about the $299 quad chip that gives you 65hp, Thats pretty much an economy chip that gives you some extra power or is the power pretty good? I got a guy whos trying to sell it for $175 on the classifieds. I mean, when I punch it will it give out a lot of black smoke or only minor? I am looking for a lot of black smoke. Another thing about the EDGE and the Bullydog's with there monitors. Is it worth the extra $300-400 for that or can I just get some gauages instead and it'll pretty much do the same?

no dude, you want at least the race box and maybe try and pick up a bullydog power pup. You need some chipage to get black smoke. With the quad on lvl three with the bdpp added, you will see some good smoke. Just try and find a race box, I got mine for $325, and my bdpp for $145. That xillerator chip is for mpg and a lil extra power.

so forget the $175 and look for what now? Whats a quad on level 3? Which quad? I dont wanna stack anything right now. Remember I am leaving trans and turbo STOCK. How about the BD 3 day tiral period for the BD TRIPPLE DOG? I dont really need the monitor (or do I)? is bully dog the one with the CRAZY LARRY? if so, what exactly is that?

If you want something to start with, pay for the 65hp box. Send it to me and I will make it smoke. Smoke means nothing and you will loose some drivabilty, but if you just want smoke I can make it smoke enough to make you happy.

If you want to go fast then get something that is meant to go fast.

I normally do not like to talk about other products at all, but I am going to recommend that you do not do the trial download. If you want to try it find a dealer that has a 30day money back guarantee. Buy the whole unit and if you do not like it then return it to stock and get your money back. The trial leaves some things to be desired and I think it can cause problems later on if you do something different. I cannot really "prove" that but, I am getting close.

65hp is a good kick in the pants. 100hp runs strong. 130hp is pretty quick. With my intake, 130hp module, muffler replacement, 3/4 tank of fuel and nothing else removed my Mega Cab will go 9.3 in the 1/8 and I can't accurately remember the mph. It was over 100 degrees as well. Pretty quick for the mods and a pretty heavy ride. I bet I could go 9.0 or so with less fuel, no spare, no tailgate and some cooler weather. I ran that after I did donuts, and multiple burnouts with no cool down.

Not saying we are the fastest just trying to give you an idea of what to expect.

Monitor or gauges? Personal preference. The big advantage to a monitor is that if it works with your module you can set it to defuel. Other than that you can get a lot of gauges in one with a monitor. Or if you like analog then get them. If you just want the minimum, but you want functionality watch our website next week. There will be an update you might like.

I said to get the quad race box. They have a 65hp box which is the zxt, std box 100hp, and the race box which is 140hp. The torque dog is supposivly the new bad boy, but I dont know how it treats the tranny. I would try both. The 3day thing is free, and will feel ok, but you wont know what you are missin with a box that will perform more. If you are keeping the tranny/turbo stock, id get either a quad race box, or the edge w/ attitude. That way you can get a monitor, which has gauges. If you dont have any you kinda need some, but I never hit anything dangerous with the quad race turned all the way up, so without the bullydog, you dont really need guages. Maybe if you were towing something , but the quad box doesnt really get that hot. Thats just what id do if I was getting one box. But if you can find a powerpup or tripple dog cheap id get it to stack. Also you should try that turbo mod that I was talking about. You can try it by simply putting a hose clamp on the trubo blow off valves hose, and shutting it off, or go buy a brass pluming plug from lowes and install it where the elbow adapter is. It take probably 5mins for someone who doesnt know what they are doing. Less if you do. I saw a big gain just by doing that, and that is next to free! Probably 30hp and much faster spool up!

yea, but I want to buy something thatr right the first time. The 65hp will be too slow and I want something adjustable. BTW, do I need a monitor if I want to do a IN-CABIN on the fly adjustment? So a few more questions about yu guys and others:

1. Does any chip(BESIDES TST) offer a built in Turbo timer for a decent price?
2. Whats the fastest chip you guys offer and does it have the in-cabin adjustment or the DANGER shutoff feature?
3. All the puppydogs, juices, larry is crazy would just about confuse everyone (who just getting into all this)

I wanted the TST but since im keeping the STOCK turbo/trans, 3 levels out of 9 is NOT worth the $1000. What chip(and please give me a personal REAL LIFE opinion) would give me the BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK. Something where I can use or just about use all of my levels.

I agree... I too once had the XZT. pulled strong and was smooth. The only thing I REALLY worried about, was keying up my CB radio - It was as if I tapped the peddle while I was at a stoplight. scary if you ask me - have you come up with some shielding for that problem? Thats what honestly sent me seeking other products. that and it got me thristing for power.
