What is a realalistic power limit for towing 10k lbs.

Without getting into twin turbos what is a realistic power level to shoot for. Lets say you have a triple disk convector, good valve body, and other internal mods.
Stock or maybe a upgraded turbo without losing to much bottom end or spool??
Is 4 or 5 inch exhaust better for towing and egts?? Want to lose as little bottom end as possible but keep egts down.
I keep seeing allot of big power trucks, but I would worry about problems pulling. I pull 10-12k trailers allot, and a 7k almost daily. I want to be able to pull 16k without to much worry and still have some fun power. Torq is my main goal, mid range 1700-2200 main area.

My cousin is a hotshot for a local company for around the town pulling.got a 06 ctd 4x4.he pulls anywhere from 6-14k.he has a 5 catbck xhaust and egts came down almost a hundred degrees.and a intake.he put the diablo stack on it but leaves it on the towing setting and the puck on low.if hes really heavy on the scales he turns the puck off.he put a aem workhorse on it 9 inch filter and it helped a little he has 40k on it now.hasn't had any problems had brakes thats bout it.his egts on a good grade from 1100 to 1300 tops when he is really workin it.you just have to know your limits i push mine sometimes but got to watch the egts.he has a new turbo in sight for pulling to help the egts.or maybe even water meth.a good tow chip will help you out alot.i know the quad tow chip is stron on the bottom end.if you stay with a 4inch you will see better fuel milage if you stay stock.if you pump alot of fuel to it and upgrade then 5 inch might be better.
I ordered the Diablo stack, will only run the predator for now as I am a bit nervous about raising rail pressure with the puck. Maybe later when I get some extra play money I will put the puck on in case I hurt something. For now thinking just tow mode, hope it helps with the gas mileage a little, long as it does timing it should.
I pull 12k every day with 571 hp and 1021 tq and no troubles.. 5" exhaust has reduced my egt's 150 degrees!! I have a smarty, mp-9, and aurora 5k turbo and have never seen over 1500 degrees!! I do have twins on order though!!

you will be safe.i run the pred on the 100hp and the puck on low i have seen the best results in my milage.

Hey Shane. Was the 5'' after the stock or a modified 4''? Also, is it cat back or turbo back?
Thanx.
Hey Shane, what's this mp-9 you speak of?
I still cant believe your tranny is holding up.
I can tow 15k at about 475HP... I do have twins though so this may be a bit much for you... at 15k and 475 under normal towing conditions, grades, passing, everything except WOT I can't get over 1300* (This is with water/meth turned off).
with a big single turbo you are gonna get some surge pulling a trailer unless you keep the rpms up. I saw this with a 66 turbo and theres way bigger than that on the market. I would say keep the boxes or programs on lower settings. my truck gets warm towing a tandem axle equipment trailer let alone like 20k. thats when twins would really work out
