At what point does a fuel upgrade add noticeable power?
i noticed a difference in low end and top end with mine and at the time had about 350 to the wheels, now im pushin more and can def. see how it was a worth while mod at the time even if i didnt need it until now.
For me, the gratification was instant after the FASS 150 install. There were several reasons:
- No longer did I worry about something passing through the stock 10 micron fuel filter and toasting my injectors. I was using 2-micron Fleetguard filters.
- Draining the water separator was easier.
- My fuel pressure went from 7 psi to 20. It no longer drew down to zero causing the truck to feel flat. It remained at about 13psi at WOT with the boxes set to kill. With the stock pump/filter I think at around 400-ish hp is where I noticed the drop.
-It was reassuring to hear my FASS running when the truck was running after I turned off the key (using the TST cool-down timer). It made me feel a lot better than not knowing if my CP3 was having to draw fuel all the way from the tank.
Getting a Glacier setup with the filter and big line kit is high on my list of mods, even before power-adders. I want to do everything I can to keep my injectors in good shape.

Amen to that! (even though I run teh Walbro from Glacier)

I am going to be a little different and say it depends on how you make the power. My hot juice could pull the stock pressure down to 4 psi on #5 (180 hp) but the MP-8 set to 65% (maybe 50 hp) could pull it to 0-1 easily. On my truck anyway, pressure really kills the stock lift pump. I think I could feel a difference stock when I put on the walbro set to 23 psi @ idle. I also have the DIY CP3 done, which may make a difference in all of this.
I ordered my Glacier pump and Smarty about a week apart. I got the pump on and ran it about a week before I got the Smarty. Even stock the idle is smoother and there is a slight improvement in responsiveness.
