Water injection Questions

Hey for you guys running water injection what systems are you using? How much PSI are your pumps? How long will a tank last? Just under everyday driving conditions? I'm thinking of the Devilsown system using the stock washer tank and I don't want to have to fill up every other set of stoplights. Thanks guys

I had my system plumed into the washer fluid tank but changed it to a in bed tank due to the fact you HAVE to run a anti rust additive and that stuff does not look good smeared onto the windshield

Rpainter, how long could you go on a tank? power increases? Good to know about smearing washer fluid with the anti-rust.

power increase none I am running straight water and a bottle of pump lube and anti rust. how long does it last?? I have a 7 gallon tank and am running 24 gph with the pump full on. I dont drive the truck much and I pull nothing with it so I do remember that a washer fluid tank would last me about 10 miles of playing with a mustang.

I have the kit you are looking at with two nozzels and have had no problems with it plumbed from the washer tank. I run at least 30% methanol and i have not even heard of an anti rust additive. The tank lasts quite a long time because I have it set to only come on when I am really hammering the truck. This is a good kit, well worth the money and much cheaper than snow peroformance.

I run a 2.5 gallon tank in my toolbox... Coolingmist Stage II, normally lasts me a long time if empty, when towing I set it more aggressively to help keep temps down... While towing heavy in this 100+ heat I use a gallon about every 50-100miles depending how hard I am pushing... I use washer fluid, bout 20% methonal and no rust additive... water is not in the head long enough to rust, just make sure you turn it off 5mins or so before shutdown... I ran it for probably 15k miles and pulled the head for other reasons... No signs of rust...

Snow kit

I am running the Snow Performance stage 2 kit on my 03 and have it setup to come on 18 psi and full on at 30 psi; my maximum boost is about 38 psi. When towing a travel trailer through the hill country of Texas, a 6 gallon tank lasts about 800 miles running at 65 mph with a single large nozzle. I am running a 50/50 mix and see reduction in EGT (about 100 - 200 degrees) and a slight performance boost. Methanol is very corrosive so make sure you turn off the H20/Meth a few miles prior to shutdown so the downstream intake from the nozzle will "dry" out.

A recent 2000 mile trip to Kentucky with no trailer I used about 1/2 gallon but drove very conservatively at about 65 with the Gear Vendors O/D engaged about 90% of the trip. I think I may drop the initial on boost to 15 psi.

I hooked up the single 625 nozzle as my intake horn has only a single boss to mount a nozzle. I also have the higher pressure pump 220 psi pump throttled back a bit maybe 190 - 200 psi so the single nozzle works well for me. Pressure is adjustable on the pumps. If you have the 150 pump you may want to run the 625 and the 375 nozzles. Experiment until you find what works for you. Good Luck.

I have a Snow stage 3. I run bolth of the 625 nozzles and the 375 nozzle as well off of the 220 psi pump. Thought of adding a 4th nozzle with a 375 nozzle and my othe 150 gph pump and toning it down a bit if I had too. The little resevoir it came with(maybe a 1/2 gallon) I can drain it in 2 sled pulls now.

Right now, I have a Scheid Water Injection System on my 1996 Dodge CTD 12valve. My system has a hydraulic-type pump, electrically operated, that is capable of supplying up to 850psi of water pressure. I have five (5) water nozzles machined directly into my cylinder head. My water tank has almost a three (3) gallon capacity and I will use about one-half (1/2) a gallon of water in one 1/4 mile run. I do NOT run methanol or windshield washer fluid in my water because it causes "detonation" in my engine with the "static or mechanical" timing with the P-7100 Fuel Pump. Like DTR Member "Rpainter",
I also mix an "anti-rust/water pump lubricant" in with my distilled water beacause I HAVE HAD rust build up inside my cylinder head.

I previously ran one of the early "Snow Performance Water Injection Systems" with two (2) .625ml nozzles. But, as my power went up, the RV style water pump in that system could not keep up. Don't get me wrong, IMHO, the "Snow System" is a very good water injection system, but I think it has its limitations in real high H.P. conditions unless you run more than one RV style water pump.

John has the right idea. I often said if I had to do it over again it would be a Schied or ATS set up. I also run pump lube with my water, no methanol.
